The Group A touring car racing category, which gained worldwide popularity in the mid-1980s, was the backdrop for the development of the second generation GT-R, which made its debut in 1989 and achieved remarkable success. The second generation GT-R evolved from the BNR32 based on the eighth-generation Skyline, to the BCNR33 based on the ninth-generation Skyline, and then to the BNR34 based on the tenth-generation Skyline. The Hot Wheels model is based on the BCNR33 type, which features a larger body and improved body rigidity, enhancing speed and driving stability. The term "Godzilla" on the body has a double meaning, representing both a monster character and something "Japanese," and it is affectionately known as the nickname for the GT-R in America.
